how to remove scratches on lcd monitor ?

i know i have seen someone asking about this before, but i have searched hi and low and i can't seem to find the posting anywhere.

basically, i have two rather deep scratches on the front of my lcd monitor and i was wondering what is the best way to remove them? is there some kind of filler? or should i try to buff them out?
any suggestions/experiences are welcome

I doubt buffing will do the trick... it ll eat away the anti glare coating from the screen...

Bump for you...

Buy a new one? Seriously though I think a satisfactory solution considering cost doesnt exist. But, you could try to Google it and see.

For future reference, anyone who purchases an LCD from staples should get their extended plan. They give one guaranteed screen replacement anytime up to 2 years after the manufacturers warranty expires. I still have 2 and a half years to go but for 150, it looks like I'll get a replacement for my 500 dollar investment. Scatches be gone! 🙂

Does anyone know why lcd's aren't manufactured with a glass screen over the lcd?
It would seem to only make sense, then you could actually replace that screen, as well as be easier to clean and care for.

Assuming it's you who posted this in Tech Support also, duplicate posts in multiple sections verboten. See my reply over there.

Fokks, there are LCD's with glass screens, namely the NEC 1765. And if you want to protect the LCD from scratches it would probably be best if you bought an anti glare screen or something like that.

there are a couple i think. but i am sure that for the sake of costs, it is cheaper to not include a glass front for lcd screens. i only know of a couple. there is a sony (i forget the model #) that has some kind of glass/glare filter. and a brand called AG Nevo that has a protective glass front also(i think you can find them at compusa)
