How to remove outdated share folders in Win98?

In my class (I teach Web Design), I've set up a Win98 system to act as, for lack of a better term, a sort of file-server. Each student gets a folder shared with their name as the name and they store their stuff. Works great, no problem.

At the end of the year, or when a student leaves, I delete their folder - again, not a problem.

But now, when my "sharing" hard drive is accessed over the network, the share names of all student folders seemingly ever created still appear in the listing, whether they exist or not. And the list continues to grow (and not shrink!).

Anyone know where Win9x stores these entries so that they can be deleted/updated?

Do a search in the registry and type in one of the names you see when your drive is accessed. If it finds something, which it most likely will, delete the entry.
