How to remove LILO or GRUB?

In my computer I've got 2 hard drives: one (master) with 20 GB and the slave with 4GB. In the first one I've installed Windows XP Pro (NTFS) and in the second I've the Windows 98 and I installed recently Linux Mandrake 8.1 in this second hdd drive. But now I want to remove the 4GB (where Linux is) from the computer but if I do that the system does not boot because the Linux Boot Loaders (LILO or GRUB) do not work if they don't detect the second hdd drive.

How can I solve this? I've tried already to delete the Linux partitions, but the Boot Loader remains there and the problem continues. How can I solve this without formating or deleting the Windows XP partition in the first disk?
