My brother took off some of his emblems and wants to remove the sticky left behind.

He used a whole small bottle of goo-gone, but it was rather ineffective.

Suggestions? Obviously, paint damage is to be avoided.

Hair dryer to heat it up and a clay bar to get it off.

Elaborate?

Heat will melt off the adhesive, it will wash off easily afterwards. Shouldn't cause any damage to the clearcoat or paint, although you can kiss goodbye your wax job in that area.

Never removed an emblem myself, but the hair dryer seems to be the method of choice.

the oil in the PB help to release the adhesive.

a good way of taking it off is to use a rubber eraser, you can use the tan/light brown ones, or the pink ones will do. The vinyl ones from staedtler might work too. Don't scrape it off.

Next time in the furutre a heat gun plus dental floss is the way to go. Then just use 3M adhesive & wax remover, or the eraser trick.
