Namely,

I am buying from a friend a GF3 videocard, but he has modded it replacing the original fan with a small CPU cooler. This cooler is too large for my purpose, as it blocks the the 1st and maybe the 2nd PCI slot. Also I have no means of overclocking this thing, its purely for workstation use.

So, how do I get the heatsink off, to be able to replace it with a reasonable size one??? It is glue with Arctic silver thermal epoxy.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks!

You better hope he didn't use just pure epoxy...

You can try freezing the card in the anti static bag for about 30 minutes or so... should pop right off... i've done it several times. :)

Uhh,

I have to admit, that this option did not cross my mind... well if u say it works, heh :)

Well, unless anybody has any other ideas, off to the freezer it goes...
