I want to replace the HSF on a Radeon 8500. What is the best method for removing a HSF that is glued onto a chip? Thanks.

The way I prefer to do it is lay the card down on a flat surface. Slide a small piece of cardboard or thick paper, like a business card, in between the HSF unit and the surface of the card. Now get a large bladed flat head screw driver and slide it underneath the HSF, on top of the cardboard so not to damage the surface of the card. Now, slowly turn the handle of the screw driver to change the postion of the blade of the screwdriver from parallel to perpendicular with the card. The HSF should just pop off. Just use a Naptha based cleaner or some carb and choke cleaner and clean off the glue. Once all the glue is removed, clean up the GPU with some alcohol to remove any residue. Good luck. :)
