How to remove fan on ati 9700 ??

Well I got a new zalman cooler for my 9700. Hey no problem I thought.
Just push on the pins and squeeze the back and out they come.
Yep just push them in.
UM just PUUSSSHHHHH THEM IN.

Now I have read a lot of reviews and post about taking off the cooling
fans. Everyone says just push the pins in and squeeze then together on the
back and they come right out.

Do you put it on the floor and stand on the pins ? LOL

I can't believe this, I am not a wimp but at the same time I don't want to damage the card trying to compress a little 2 lb spring.

is there a trick to this?

there is a pin that runs thru the middle of the shaft that goes through the pcb. first you gotta get needle nose pliers and pull the pin up that runs thru the center of the shaft assembly, then the part of the shaft that comes thru the back of the card should squeeze together and you can push it up thru the card.
