How to remove DirectX-8 it sucks Anyone?????????

Its killing my frames per second any one no how to remove it?????????

There's a program floating around on the internet but it's a little fishy.

Here it is

I had that same problem, actually I still have that problem. Even after using this utility, remains of DX 8.0 still reside in my machine, the best bet it to reformat and do a complete reinstall.

EDIT: this is only for Win 98 or 95, not even sure about ME.

I have not installed DirectX8, but don't know which version I'm running - where do I look?
