how to remove ati 9800 shim

i removed the heatsink/fan from my ati 9800 card and tried to remove the shim but i just cant get it out.

how is it possible to remove the shim.

i wanna remove the sim to improve the heatsink and core contact. many thanks.

I have a 9700 Pro and I just used a razor blade and it popped right off.

Hey did you ever get that shim off? I have an Icberq4 HSF + Sapphire 9800Pro which I've been trying to match up. That stupid shim is the only thing keeping me from making a tight fit. I'm too nervous to attempt to take that shim off, don't feel like gambling with a $300.00 video card ya know?

In the past I use to throw video cards (cheaper ones) in the freezer for a few minutes, the epoxy under the Heatsink would get brittle and would then 'pop' right off with little force.
