How to remove Athlon64 Heatsink?

Kishan

I need to RMA my motherboard and I wanted to know how to remove the heatsink from the motherboard. I have a Asus K8V SE Deluxe and a retail athlon 64 2800 with the included heatsink.
Thanks,
Kishan

He's serious. Once you lift the lever and release the latching mechanism, the whole thing lifts off.

Edit: Sorry, those were AthlonXP guides. I guess there's no video guide for the A64, since it's so ridiculously easy...

Its very easy but be careful that paste they use on the retail heatsink is very strong. I accidently pulled the cpu right out of the socket with that paste.
Ditto, I did the same thing. Once you unlock, twist the HSF like a mofo to try to break the seal(but not the HSF retension mechanism:Q) before you pull it up. If you don't break the seal, everything will likely still be fine, but there's less risk if you don't pull up the CPU with the HSF.

As others have said, DO NOT PULL THE HEATSINK STRAIGHT OFF the cpu.
After unlocking it, twist the heatsink as far as you can clockwise/counterclockwise a few times then carefully pull one edge of the heatsink up and off the cpu.
