How to remove athlon heatsink clips

How the heck do you remove the heatsink clips off the athlon socket, I have a T-Bird 1.3 ghz on a Epox KTA3+ mobo. That clip is a biatch and I need the heatsink removed! Any help would be appreciated.

Use a small flathead screwdriver to push it down an unhook it from the plastic tab on the CPU socket. Be very careful with the screwdriver so as not to slip and damge your motherboard.

yep, small flathead. push down and away from the chip....12-24 lbs. of force required according to AMD

The little nubbins on the CPU socket that the clips holds on to are really hooks so the clip must move toward the motherboard before they can be released. Instead of a screwdriver that can jab the board I use needlenose or duckbill pliers to handle the clip.
