i mean as i can do in work - manage computer, connect to other computer.

obviously my other PC doesn't see this PC as having admin rights. they're both on the same domain so how can i remotely manage and run task manager etc?

never set this up before

What version of Windows are you using at home? I think those features are only part of the Ultimate or Enterprise editions, not the Home/Home Premium.

I could be wrong, though.

Anyway, LogMeIn is more awesomer than all of that anyway.

I'm guessing by the access denied error, you're not using a Domain admin account. So to access the other PC remotely for management you are going to need to add your user account from the domain to the admin group on the other PC. Unfortunately I can't give you much help on the exact steps as I don't have Win8 lying around at the moment. Assuming it's User wizards are similar to Win7 you will need to choose the option "Give other users access to this computer" and then add your user account from the domain as an admin user. It's best to put the username in the domain format, e.g. MYDOMAIN\Username when you do this.

Once you're a local admin on the other PC, you will have the access required to remotely administer the PC.

BTW all this is assuming you don't want to use RDP or something similar to just remote in and manage the PC.

i cant use rdp as sometimes some app freezes which causes explorer to stop responding until this program responds. i was hoping to remotly access task manager to kill the process.

in win 8 though, when adding a new user its either a local or microsoft account from what i can see

links dead but i tried using taskkill but it said my login details were bad. i think it's because it's a microsoft account (sign in with live) instead of a regular one.

will need to test again with a local admin acc
