not working....do the pcs have to be on the same workgroup/domain even over the internet?
Usually, you'd have to be on the same network (local or VPN) and have to have share permissions for the remote printer.

You can also do Internet Printing by enabling IIS and the Internet Printing component on your local network (using XP Pro, 2000 Professional, Server 2000 or Server 2003:
Microsoft: How ot Configure Internet Printing in Windows 2000

Alternatively, you can use Remote Desktop, Terminal Services, or SBS's Remote Web Workplace.

I used to do that, print from home to a printer at work. Printer was an HP 4050N, so it had a JetDirect built in. It had a "true" internet IP address, not a NAT address and it wasn't behind a firewall. All I did was configure printing to go to the IP address and it worked.

how did u do this, i have a true ip too.

The JetDirect was set up as normal, with "true" address at work on a T1 with Cisco 3600 series router. As I recall (though years ago) my home system was set up to print to it while at work. Took it home and it printed fine. I think I was even on dial-up at the time, then on cable. We had one demo computer at work on cable and it could print to that printer fine as well.

If you have any kind of firewall, then you need port forwarding.
