How to remind a boss about something

Last Tuesday (the 10th), I asked my boss to send copies of some PHP files I made for him so I can put them in my online portfolio. He said he would. Two days later (the 12th), I asked him if he's done anything about it and he replied saying that he was very swamped with other work.

Now it's the 17th. Is it too soon to email him again? And if I do email him again, what's the proper way of reminding a boss about something without coming across as being too demanding?

BTW, he's the manager of a college computer lab and we are on break right now so theoretically, his stress level has died down by now.

thanks,
don

If he's supposed to email them to you, tell him that your Outlook profile was misconfigured and that you couldn't get emails for the past couple days.

Tell him, "Sorry, <insert email client here> has been acting strange lately and I've been missing some incoming emails. If you sent those PHP files before, can you send them again?"

Good one.

Or you could just ask him straight up...

I don't know how approachable your boss is, but I just walk into my boss's office and say "Hey, did you ever get a chance to send me those files?"
And he will either say:
"No, but I'll send them now."
or
"No, but I'll send them when I get a chance because I'm too busy right now."

If I need something on the quick, I just keep asking him. He doesn't care.
