How to reload sound driver without restarting to fix glitches.?

I'm using a xonar essence xts and occasionally when exiting a game or when a game crashes, the card will get stuck and just output a random sound. Nothing will stop it, but restarting my computer. Is there some way to restart the card without restarting the entire computer?

Disable the DS3D GX in the Xonar control panel to prevent that sound loop from occurring after exiting some games. If you need to have it on for some reason though, you can disable and re-enable the card in device manager and that should reload the driver.

I get a similar problem with my Hercules GTXP sound card when using my MyHD 120 HDTV card. Occasional sound loops and the only way I've dealt with it is a reset. Is it possible I can fix the problem without a reboot? I'll try next time. Thing is, I think the whole system gets locked up when that happens, so I guess not...
