How to reheat french fries?

My son comes home from game night with his buddies - the game store is right next to 5 guys so he always brings home lots of cold fries.

Is it possible to reheat them to make them edible? I don't really like the things but I hate to see food go to waste.

no easy way to bring fries back like they were fresh.

best way is to re-fry them, but thats not easy. you could lay them on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for a bit.

microwave will be the worst option

Toaster oven on "warm" for 10 min or so (longer if kept in cold or fridge). Oven will work too. Don't turn it up too high or it will dry 'em out! Microwave turns them into a soggy mess. FG fries are already pretty spongy as it is. ;)

refry is the best way, if you dont have a deep fryer then under the broiler is the second best option.

Yea eating them cold is best. Attempts to reheat will end in failure and dry french fries. Attempts to re-fry will take just as much effort as frying up your own new batch.

From my few times at 5 guys. They only single fry the spuds. I usually don't eat them there. I take em home pop them in my fryer. They turn out golden brown crisp outside soft inside. Yum Yum!

Pour a little oil in a skillet, heat on high, add fries and toss or stir them around to coat with oil, then basically just pan fry to crisp them up again. Keep tossing/turning every 30 seconds or so for between three and four minutes. About the best you're gonna get for reheating cold fries.

this is the way to do it. but frankly a potato only costs a few cents. so if youre gonna fry something why not chop up a tater and make fresh fries? homemade fries turn out like in n out fries

I usually just heat them up in the oven and they taste as good as new to me. I'm not sure how well that would work with McDonald's fries (I don't like those enough to ever try and save them) but it works on restaurant fries and those frozen ones from a bag. But of course it works on the frozen ones, that's how you cook them in the first place.

Absolutely no to the microwave though. Anything you would describe as "crispy" when you're eating it absolutely cannot be reheated in the microwave.

I love Five Guys and their fries.

Microwave shouldn't be considered.

I've had good luck with baking on a sheet. Not perfect but, totally acceptable result.

potatoes are cheap. the reason they dont have fries on the dollar menus is because of the cost of cooking oil and the energy to heat it. the same thing would apply to reheating fries

If you're concerned about wasting food, you should compost your scraps/wasted food. Compost the fries and call it a day.

They do have fries on the dollar menu. Point invalid.
