How to register MAC address of wireless access pt

I recently got a Netgear wireless access point box to connect a bunch of wireless computers to my wired LAN. While the wireless computers work fine in AdHoc peer to peer mode with each other, none of them seem to be able to "see" the wireless access point. The wireless access point software seems to be installed, and my wirless laptop seems to be negotiating a signal from the wireless access point (WAP). In the readme files of the WAP, it talks of registering the MAC address of the WAP on the server computer. Apparently it does not automatically do this with the configuration software.
Anybody out there have experience with configuring this setup? Help!! Thanks in advance....
