the easiest way i know is to boot to dos (use a 95/98/2k) boot disk, and then type "fdisk" then delete the partition you want to delete, then create a new partition then exit fdisk, type "format C(or whatever drive letter you're working with)"

if i have that order backwards anyone else feel free to corect me...

Go into DOS either by shutting down into DOS or by using a boot disk and then when you reach the C: prompt type "format c: \s" without the quotes.
The \s is to copy the necessary system files to make the drive bootable so you can easily install your OS.

pretty much what zeon said...but back up or ghost everything first ;)

and don't forget to make a bootdisk prior to...(with smartdrv.exe if non-bootable cdrom so you can install from dos)

Grab a utility from the manufacturer and low-level initialize (00 write) that sucker. That is a 'wipe', not a 'format'.

It will clear everything; boot sector, partitions, data, everything. You then have to partition and format it again to use it.
