How to recover files?

Friend's Win 7 has some errors and wont boot, i tried with startup recovery but didnt help.

So if i do format, files will be destoryed.

I tried to boot with knoppix, and i succeed, but i couldnt copy any files to the other partition of the HDD in knoppix dunno why.


Any help?

Did you get any error message while copying?

Yes, something like "... can't make folder "nameoffolder" " something like that, could not create folder.

That's when i tried to copy that files from desktop (document and settings/user/desktop) to other partition, but i could copy them to desktop of knoppix, i think probably coz it's same partiton C.

connect a usb hard drive and copy the file that you want to save to the usb hard drive.

I tried with USB flash drive, but same error, couldnt copy anything on it -_-

It's pretty old knoppix tho, maybe it's good idea to try with newest one.
