Ok so the Logitech webcam software doesn't have a record function....why? How? I dunno. That makes about as much sense to me as a microphone that doesn't have a "speak" option.

Why on Earth would webcam software NOT have a record function????

So I downloaded another program called "Logitech Capture", which by the way won't even run with the other Logitech software running.

I cannot figure it out either. It has two "source" options, monitor 1 and monitor 2 (don't have a second monitor). If I choose monitor 1 I can record what I'm doing on my screen, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to record using the camera. The camera does not show up anywhere in the program at all. I don't get it. The camera light doesn't even come on unless I open the webcam software that came with it.

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong and why this would be so difficult? It's baffling to me that I can build my own computers from scratch but can't figure this out.

It seems to me the webcam should come up as the default "source" since it's the only camera on the computer.

Wow. Apparently it's so difficult NOBODY knows how to record using a Logitech webcam!
I guess I'll have to just continue doing all my recording with my phone. Seems ridiculous.

I installed it but on "Auto-configuation Wizard" it asks me what service I'm streaming from (Youtube, Facebook live, etc) and want's me to enter a server and stream key. I'm lost.
Unfortunately you'll probably have to do some searching to figure out how to use OBS. The good news is it's popular and there are many tutorials available.

I sometimes download from majorgeeks and softpedia. I found amcap at softpedia and it looks like the file is clean after a scan at virustotal. It's an older version though and a demo so I'm not sure if it's going to function the way you want it. https://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Video-Recording/AMCap.shtml

Like I said, the webcam software should have recording function on it, I shouldn't have to research numerous programs about how to record on my camera. Your all playing to my whole point.......this is stupid.

I looked into the program OBS, you have to specify a server to even open the program, it's not meant for recording yourself on your webcam. It's designed for recording on a server that you specify when you start the program.

I've always used Softpedia and MajorGeeks for my downloads if you want to search around a bit for software.

It also looks like you might be able to record with VLC which I did not know. VLC is a great media player. https://www.vlchelp.com/how-to-record-webcam-video-using-vlc-media-player/

Windows 10 camera app might work. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...ndows-10/a65fae0f-86d3-4a82-999d-5003a2c78ad8

I don't have use a cam so I can't try either to see if they work. I also get your frustration with logitech software. It seems like many newer versions aren't very intuitive.
