How to Record Phone conversations?

I have Time Warner TV/Internet/Phone package. I need to record some of my phone conversations with my Time Warner Internet phone on to my computer. I would think there would be an easy way to do this instead of getting a cassette recorder. I'm using a modern desktop computer running Windows 7. Is there something I can plug into a USB and then plug my phone cable into this to record both sides of a phone conversation?

Yes, I already checked out the state law, which says as long as one person is aware that the conversation is being recorded, it is legal.

I think it's pretty pathetic that in a world of $650 phones and every company you call recording the conversation for "training purposes" that an individual cant record without some janky external hardware.

Radio Shack used to sell the stuff back in the early 1990's

Now the only place to get in the store is in downtown washington D.C. at the spyshop.

Just buy a mic, plug it into your win 7 box audio in port, get some free audio recording software... and done.
Nothing complex about this.
However, be warned that you may be breaking the law in your state. I'll leave it up to you to look at info up.

For Incoming calls:

  1. Setup Answer Anywhere or Call Forwarding from within Time Warner's VoiceZone portal to include your smartphone number
  2. Install and use an app to record calls on your smartphone (example)
  3. Test
  4. Answer and record incoming calls with smartphone

Alternative for Incoming calls:

  1. Acquire and setup any VoIP account (examples: voip.ms, anveo) on your PC or smartphone using a softphone that has the option to record calls (example)
  2. Setup Answer Anywhere or Call Forwarding from within Time Warner's VoiceZone portal to include the new VoIP number
  3. Test
  4. Answer and record incoming calls with softphone

For Outgoing calls:

Install Phone 2 Go on your Smartphone and find an app that will record it (not sure if example above will work with Phone 2 Go or not).

Alternative for Outgoing calls:

Use 3-Way Calling to record calls on your smartphone or Windows softphone using examples above. From your Time Warner phone, call your smartphone/softphone first, start recording, then call your target number. As always, test first to work out any kinks.
