I have a SB Live Value and a Sony MZ-R50. How would I go about recording MP3's onto a mindisc? What kinda of line/jack does the opitcal out on the SB Live use? The optical one? What software do I use? WinAmp or MS Media Player? Any thoughts?

Also, I noticed that my board looks different from the board shot on CL's website. The output jacks colors are light yellow, blue, pink, green, and black. I bought this card OEM. What revision is this? Free bump. :)

The card itself has no optical out. You'll need an optical add on card to record optically. Either that or get a SoundBlaster Live! Platinum 5.1 with the IR drive. That IR drive has an optical out.

There are devices you can buy using the USB port to convert digital to optical.

To get an add on card for your SB Live, check out the Hoontech card. I know two of my friends who are using it. Hoontech

What about the digital out on the SB Live? What does that do? What cable does it use?

the digital out on your sound card would not be able to connect to your md player because the md player requires an optical digital out. you would need to get the daughter card or the live drive which has the optical out. the way you can do it currently is the analog way which is just connect the regular cable (minijacks) to the md and the sound card, make a playlist in winamp, WMP, RealPlayer, etc. and then start recording on your MD and hit play.
