How to record from Line in on sound card?

Any ideas? I'm trying to record some old tapes I have into mp3, I can hear the audio, but it won't record with any programs I've tried (Goldwave, MS sound recorder, etc). Anyone know a program that allows you to select what recording device its using, IE: Line in versus microphone input.

btw: I had almost forgotten how "OK" tapes sound. Not bad at all.

Finally found the switch inputs window in Goldwave. Works great.
