how to record from an analog source?

howdy!

my brother is a son of the 80's and wants to put his tape collection on his pc. what's the best (read: easiest) way to record stuff using the audio in? thank you!!

Sound recorder; works great for me. Run a bunch of 60 second clips together to get a long file then record. Later you can turn it into MP3 using Musicmatch or whatever.

I like to do things the hard way. 😛

The Nero SoundTrax application has an LP and Tape wizard (under Tools). Looks like it will break the output into tracks and then output in MP3 if you want it to.
Not free, but many people have it and have never opened it.
