How to recognize the speed of memory chips ?

Hi Friends,

Good day.

I have a small question:

Given a memory chip, how will one come to know if it is a 66MHz or 100MHz or a 133MHz memory chip ? Are there any special markings on the chip etc ?

Any pointers / suggestions are welcome.

Warm Regards,

Vivek

usually, you can look at the last number(s) in the serial number on the chips. It gives you the nanosecond rating of the chip, just divide 1000 by that number and you get the rated speed in mhz.

for example, say the serial number is 742746823-8
1000/8=125mhz (so that would be pc100 ram because it's not rated to go over 125mhz, but of course could be run faster)
usually pc133 will be 7.5 or 7 etc...
