If she isn't under any kind of contract and has truly cancelled the service just call the credit card company and dispute the charges.

she told me that she called, but they told her it is already charged and they can't do anything. all the credit card company told her was
"they can't do anything."
She needs to write the credit card comapany and dispute.
She needs to write AOL and threaten them in small claims court in her jurisdiction. They'll stop.

AOL Tme Warner, and small claims court? I doubt it. Leung you need to call AOL and see what the deal is, perhaps there was a miscommunication somewhere. As much as AOL sux, I highly doubt they would have charged you or your friend deliberately. They are a large company, mistakes do happen

Doubtful, AOL did this to my family back when AOL was the only internet. When we cancelled the service they kept billing the montly amount. We called, and nothing happened, we wrote letters, threatened, etc etc. The best thing you can do is call the CC company and tell them you lost the card and get a new number.
