How to re-install windows media player in WINXP?

I tried. It says that there is no new upgrade even though I choose to reinstall. I deleted all the files and they all came back automatically. Media PLayer in full mode is curropted. The pulldown menu is to the left off the window, all the letters run over each other, I can't select anything else except for "Now playing".

I guess I'll have to use some other program 🙂

A bunch of these weird problems today....

Try deleting this registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer

Than logoff/login (or reboot).

that should fix the problem.

And yes, I guarantee that using a differant player will fix the problem... 😀

tried it, but didn't fix the problem. And in fact while I was in the registry I deleted a few more entries of the media player - now it is even worse 🙂 I don't even see any input buttons along the left.... 🙂 I'll try reinstalling winXP ... any more thoughts is appreciated ...
