a family member of mine had just had a puppy missing. from a very quiet, peaceful neighborhood.

police have been contacted; pound has been visited; have posted flyers all over and craiglist checked. any other avenues ?

thanks. it was a very young house puppy - not an established outdoors one. the dog's home was next to a quiet creek so that will be checked. luckily the weather isnt too bad , but its still a very dependent puppy =[

What were the circumstances that surrounded the disappearance? It's not unheard of for people to snatch dogs.

Try asking neighbors to see if anyone has spotted the puppy.

Was the puppy chipped?

My friend lost her dog last year but due to it being microchipped she was happily reunited with her dog a week later.

Might contact dog walkers in the area as well and offer a reward. Also call any pet stores or groomers in the area.

Good Luck.

When my duck was kidnapped, I drove my boat around looking for her, put up flyers and took out newspaper ads. She didn't know she was a duck, she thought she was a person. She was afraid of ducks.

I got a few calls from people reporting ducks that seemed unducklike. One finally panned out. A trip to the vet for stitches after a cat attack and she healed up.

She liked to talk to people in front of my house. Somebody thought she'd make a good pet and took her, found out they make a mess. Then they dumped her on a golf course with other ducks. She was gone for 1 week and made stories in three newspapers upon her return.

I lost a conure once.... it flew out the window right at dusk... it sat out in the tree the whole night, but the little bastige wouldn't fly back into the house. The following morning he was still there, and then took off in front of our eyes.... we figured it was a lost cause. But, we put fliers up and one block over some people found him and kept him for 1 week before contacting us. We got him back and it worked out well.

I would post fliers and keep an eye out locally. Might also be a good idea to contact local vets and animal shelters/pounds.

On a lighter note, our other conure flew out once, and flew right back in.... that was cool.

Dogs are sometimes stolen from backyards around here.

that was my biggest fear. i couldnt believe people would do something like that... dogs arent inanimate objects like a dvd player or wallet someone could just pick up and use for themself...

i loved that dog so much im considering getting one of my own

Full blooded yap yap dogs get stolen because they are easy to take and easy to sale. Keep an eye on the classifieds for somebody selling one.

I'm still surprised that anyone would steal a dog. Seriously, why?

I've picked up quite a few strays, lost pets over the years, and never considered keeping it. But, I guess there are people that steal children out there too.

Hope you find your dog! Mine has gotten lost a few times, but my name/phone number is on her collar and I've always been contacted.

when my Mom's favorite cat got out of the house, my brother and I went around the neighborhood knocking on every door. We eventually found her, but I don't remember the details because it was 40 years ago.

so i would get out and ask the neighbors if they've seen anything. don't count on posters, door to door is more effective.

not mine, but a family member's (i dont live with). however, i see so much merit in having a pet that now i want one of my own.
