How to purge job from print que

wpshooter

I have a co-worker here at work that is telling me that over the weekend he was doing some printing on his printer (at Lexmark - inkjet) at home and he has a job that is stuck in the print que which he can not seem to purge from the que. Using XP O/S.

He has tried cancelling and deleting the job from the que and has also rebooted computer and unhooked and turn the printer off and even unplugged it from the wall.

He says that that job will not purge of of the que. He said that he has even tried to delete the printer in control panel and it will not allow him to because of the pending job in the que.

Is there some back-door way of purging this job from the print que ?

Thanks.

Boot to safe mode and cancel the job there? If not, go to the \windows\system32\spool and delete all files (but not directories) there. Failing that, try deleting the printer itself and reinstall.

did he try ... start > settings > printer & faxes > double left click on the printer that's stuck in que and cancel the print job?
