I am watching a movie, hit pause to the scene that I want, and then hit Print Screen. I then hit past in MS Paint and see the image there. I save it to a jpg, but when I reopen it, the picture is black. What am I doing wrong?

I don't think you can. The DVD is probably copy protected against that.

The problem is probably that the DVD player app is using overlays, and PrintScrn doesn't copy them. There might be apps that do, or players that don't use overlays.

what are you using to view the dvd? powerdvd and windvd both have screencap functions.
media player classic can do it as well.

If the image shows before you save, print screen while it's open in Paint before saving, then open it in another paint window. Should work, no?
