How to prevent screen burn in when using apps like GoogleMaps?

I've always used Samsung AMOLED phones and they all eventually get screen burn in, primarily in the upper horizontal notifications bar.

When switching apps the notifications bar always changes color between apps to prevent burn in, but when you're driving and need to be on the GoogleMaps navigation screen for sometimes hours at a time without the navigation bar changing, that really contributes to burn in.

Anyone know a way around this?

1. Don't use max brightness. Most burn in is caused by white pixels at max brightness for extended periods. Keep it as low as possible.

2. Next turn isn't for 37 miles? Turn the phone screen off and rely just on voice for a bit.

3. Invert the screen colors back and forth through the trip. Any white text areas become black which is the opposite of burning them in. Sure, the screen will look a little weird but who cares for maps?

4. Download offline maps to a cheaper device and use that for at least part of the journey.

5. Get a head unit with screen that has Android Auto (or Car Play for iOS) and give the phone's screen a break in the car.

Are you talking about the icons on the notification bar getting burned in? Like the battery, clock etc al?

I've not had that happen but if it worries you you could download goodlock from the galaxy app store and use quickstar to nerf the icons you don't want. You can set it so there's none there.
