how to prevent HD from dying?

Hi, i have so many important thing in my harddrive and i really want it safe.

how can u detech or even prevent it from defecting?

sometimes i hear "high frequent" noise when it spin too fast.

my drive is Western Digital 800JB.

get a raid card and another drive for mirror , cooler will old help a bit but I have so many failed drives with cooler on it..

Back up your important files to CD or to a seldom used backup drive. If a drive is gonna die, its gonna die, especially if you use it a lot. Like any other device with moving parts, mechanical failure is an inherent risk.

i just leave my computer on overnite. for downloading and uploading.

WD had failed me once very long time ago.
