How to prevent applications from launching browser ?

I want to stop an applications ability to launch the web browser. I am annoyed by programs that when installed or uninstalled take it upon themselves to launch the browser and go to the softwares website. I want me to be the only one that can start it and not other programs.

I'm hoping it is a registry setting.
