How to prepare a rooted phone for resale? Do the standard encrypt -> factory wipe?

CM11 rooted phone I want to sell. What's best way for me to secure it? I know there's a sticky somewhere for resale advice, but that doesn't address rooted ones.

Yeah, root won't make a difference if all you need is a secure wipe.

No, you would need to flash another non-CM ROM or stock ROM (assuming it's not the OnePlus One) for the device to get rid of it.

If you do that, you will lose root (not that it's hard to regain root on most devices these days). If you really want to get it back to near pristine/original condition, you could also flash the original recovery.

I'm selling it so whichever makes value higher is what I'd want

What phone? Sounds like you're running a custom ROM. I'd normally flash the stock image before selling. On a Samsung phone, normally with Odin.

What handset? I'd boot to recovery and manually format the userdata partition (mke2fs) once or twice and call it a day...

If it were me, I would flash factory firmware back to it but if someone actually would pay more to receive it with custom firmware they could easily put on themselves I'd consider that.
