How to post direct links of files from hard drive?

Well, basically the story goes like this:

I go to my cousin's house, and use their computer. I sign on aim, and when I tried to IM someone (double click on their name), immediately an IM is sent, with a link that said: http://(my ip here):1080/(name of file). I clicked on it, and obviously it was some form of virus. I was like, whao, an AIM virus, cool. So after expunging it, I thought to myself, how could I send direct links to my hard drive? It was just a regular link, (no AIM file transfer), so the virus somehow opened up a port and did stuff. Anyone know how I could do this?

they are running something like apache, and using their ip adress rather than a domain name to link you to a file withen their apache folder. They are probally running apache behind another port rather than the defualt once, that is why they needed the :1080
