How to play mini-DV in VCR?

You can buy a mini-DV > VHS adapter.

I have doubts about this

I've done this for people too poor to afford a free DVD player.

Wrong. You've never done this, stop lying.

MiniDV tapes (tapes, not DVDs) are a totally different DIGITAL format, they cannot be read by VHS VCRs. You have to hookup your camcorder and use it as a player, or shell out a few hundred bucks for a MiniDV player of some sort. There is no adapter that will allow your VCR to do so.

Edit:
Pwn this.

Holy crap... looked up some players that will do it and they're like $700 range

Mini DV is not a format
DV is the format
Mini is the size
Look to B&H for cheap DV tape machines.
They are NOT consumer equiptment (yet).
They would be Pro-sumer.

I'm gonna go home and take a pic of this adaptor and pwn you all.

I'll get you some duck sauce to go with your crow.

Errrr. Am I the only one to think he's joking?

The first one seemed like a mistake, but this seems to indicate that he's just being silly.

MiniDV = Digital
VCR = Analog

Can you play a cd in a cassette player? No.

You need somekind of adapter that would have a D/A converter in it and then have that all in a unit the size of a VHS tape. Never seen it. No real need to make that though when you can just get a cheap $5-10 AV cable and hook up your MiniDV camcorder to the inputs of your VCR.
