I have been playing Euchre all the time lately with my buds, and they were talking about playing with just 2 people one time... Now I am wondering how you play with just 2 players... I searched on the net for instructions but couldnt find any...

Three man is a pain in the arse...I can't even imagine 2 man.

Why don't you just hook up with each other one yahoo games or something? :)

You can do it, I used to play it...but unfortunately I forget...but I'll give it a shot.

It all has to do with how many cards you use. You leave out the 9's

Ok...deal out regular hands of 5 each...then deal one by one, face down, four more cards for each player. Two left in the kitty, turn one over. That's the trump call.

Once you use a card in your hand, you pick up another that is face down until all cards are played. You can not have more than 5 cards in hand at one time. Whoever has the most books wins.

I guess if you are jones'n for euchre, it will work...

I can't remember how either, but I know we used to play 2 player all the time in college.

*Edit - I just did a google search and every site that mentions 2 player says you play exactly the same as 4 player except you're going alone every time with only one opponent and you don't get 4 points for going alone and winning.

I know that we played it differently, but like I said, I'll be damned if I can remeber how.

I don't know how to play 2-man Euchre, considering its a 2vs2 game.

But I do have a fun 3-7 player game called "Sh*t on your neighbor". See the appropriately named thread.

2 man euchre the way I played in in college:

Deal four cards face down in front of each player and then 4 cards face up on top of those and deal the remaining 8 cards (4 per player). The four cards dealt will be held in your hand. Whoever deals has the advantage. The dealer gets to call trump based on what he has in his hand and what he sees in his hand plus the 8 cards(his four plus the opponets 4) that are face up. Not only does the dealer get to call trump, he gets to throw first as well.

He can throw either a card from his hand or a card that is facing up in front of him (your opponet has four cards facing up to help your decision). Four man Euchre rules apply as far as suits go. Jack-Jack-Ace...etc. If you throw a card that is dealt face up, you pick up the card that is face down (under the face up card) and put it in your hand. Continue play until all tricks are won.

Scoring is as follows (adjust to what you see fit):
Dealer wins 10-12 tricks:2 points
Dealer wins 9-7 tricks: 1 point
Both win 6 Tricks: 1 point each
Defender wins 9-7 tricks:2 points
Defender wins 10-12 tricks:4 points

This version is very easy to play but hard as hell to describe. I hope you can grasp what I'm saying. If I had a virtual deck of cards you'd be playing in no time.

"His" and "he" were just used as an example. Women can play too.

Good luck.
