how to play a DVD

I mistakenly uninstalled the DVD software that came with my PC, thinking that I didn't need it since I use WMP. But it turns out that WMP needs the decoder in that software. I can't find anything on the internet to do this which isn't a trial version. The trial versions that I've found are not fully functional. Can anyone help?

You'll need to fork over the cash for a third-party program or pray you can reinstall the software that came with the PC. DVD decoder software costs money because of the licensing fees that have to be paid for the codecs and such.

Just download power dvd demo & install it. Power dvd

After you install it it will install a mpg2 decoder, now you can use windows media player to watch your dvds. 🙂

Or you can just download K-Lite codec pack (it's got a mpg2 decoder. ) 🙂

Thanks all. I think I've messed things up irrepairably by installing random stuff. I'll try doing what you say when my new drive comes and I install XP from scratch.
