I don't have an optical drive to load up a Linux live disc and use Gparted. I do have an older version of Acronis which will let me format 1 partition on it fine, but when I try to do multiple partitions it gives me all sorts of "sectors can't be read" errors. The card's fine, I filled it to compacity and pulled the files back off with no problem. This leads me to believe Disk Director is the problem. With Windows 7 lovely built in partition I can make it a single partition. I'm looking to have 3, FAT32, ext3 & linux swap I need it for a rom I'm trying to install. I Googled and the tutorial are saying to use parted, I installed the Android SDK and there's no parted included. I'm unsure how to get it up and going, but it seems like gparted or parter are the only 2 solutions I have to pull this off. Any ideas??

what recovery are you using?

I never found a decent way of making ext 2,3 or 4 partitions in Windows. Amon_RA's recovery is the best for this.

Flash Recovery whatever version Rom Manager installs by default. Disk Director is a steaming pile of shit considering all it does is partition, yet it see's an OSX partition and wants to stop running all together. I will look into Amon_RA's recovery, I saw it mentioned somewhere. I even downloading a script that's supposed to partition my card for me, but it crapped out when it didn't find parted.

I would like to say I'm very comfortable in ADB, but I don't know how to get alt+x to drop into a console window to work. I guess that's only with the RA recovery which doesn't work for Droid 1's. Also if I type adb parted, it doesn't like that. For whatever reason my ADB doesn't have parted. When I type parted from the shell I get: not found. I have a sdparted directory with parted in it. I'm assuming this is correct. My Googling sucks so I can't find out 100% if this is right.

I ran into that too. "parted not found".

Gimme a minute. I'm trying a couple things. I haven't hard to partition on my Vibrant so I am rusty.

Ok, if anyone else needs to partition their SDcard to install a certain rom. Download Rom Manager and it has a re-partition option, took about 5 seconds to tell it the sizes I wanted and it did the rest for me in about a minute. For whatever reason not a single damn Android guide to SD partitioning I found mentioned this.
