How to pack an LCD Monitor for shipment

Well, I traded a fellow trader here my 15" LCD for his 19" LCD. He would like to get it by saturday so he can start his projector, so I want this to get there by Saturday.

I have a LCD, but unfortunetly, I have never had to pack an LCD. He simply packaged it in the original box, but I do not have the box to mine.

How would you pack it??

Box size: 18x18x6, lined with large bubble. Wrap the LCD in large bubble, put in box, paper for dunnage (Not newspaper as newspaper loses it's integrity very quickly). Then tape the box up with a packing slip inside and one on the outside and ship.

I assume using packing peanuts would work better?

If you like. I tend to stay away from peanuts as they're messy and not biodegradable. I always hate to recieve them. I'm actually the shipping supervisor for the corp that I work for and we haven't used peanuts in years. If peanuts are all you have then that's what you'll have to use. Also the problem with peanuts is they shift during transit unless you pack the box very tight with them.

What I Would do Is first put a piece of cardboard on the front of the LCD tape it with scotch tape on all for sides and then bubble warp it around and then fill up the box with peanuts and pop it it.

That's a good idea. But make sure when you bubble around the monitor that you use masking tape or clear packing tape on the bubble. Scotch tape doesn't adhere very well. If the scotch tape around the bubble should give way and also the scotch on the cardboard, the cardboard may slide causing scratches to the LCD.

Make sure the card board is a bit bigger then the actuall szise of the lcd.if u put the bubble wrap thight enough it should be fine

I would do much the same as suggested above, but, I would get some thin plywood or other strong sheeting and place on both sides of the LCD.
A box shaped like that is ripe to be stepped on!

Also, you need to weld it all shut in a depleted uranium sphere, just in case.

I think we're going a little overboard here guys. 😛

Then again it is UPS...maybe DU is in order.
