hi, I was wondering howfar I could get my PC... and what the best settings would be... the person I bought this pc from had it at 2200MhZ what already sounds good for me but he formatted the pc and slowed the pc down again before I bought it... so I was wondering how I can turn it up again... This is my pc:

case : AOpen QF50C Black P4/AMD,Mid.T, 24p 300W, Air-guide 1.1, PSC
CPU : [Skt 939] AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 3000+ 64bit Skt 939, Retail
HD: WD 80 GB ATA100 7200rpm WD800JB 8MB Cache
MoBo : [Skt 939] ASUS A8VDel GLan K8T800Pro,SATA,Raid,1394
Ram : 2 times =>PC3200] DDR400 512MB Corsair ValueSelect
Graphic card would be : [AGP] Asus Nvidia N6600TD, 256MB Tv-out, DVI,2nd VGA

I use the computer mainly for gaming... and I know that takes alot from my CPU so I want to spice it up a little ^^

another question I got is... my ASUS probe is onley going to give a warning if my CPU temp is higher then 54°C but I thought 40°C was about the max I best go...

already thx for reading and even more if you could help me out...
Just don't use hard term cuz i'm not so smart with overclocking but willing to learn it all

yeah was already thinking you would post that...Cuz I have searched the website ^^ and you alway's link that to questions...

The answer is: WE DON'T KNOW. Please, people, state what you're going to use it for, what your other plans are, and stuff like that

I told you it's for gaming and school stuff I just wanne make it a bit faster :)..

These forums are meant for discussions of new processors, reviews and (test)results.

If I look at the topic titel... it's tells me cpu/processors AND OVERCLOCKING

I was at my friends hous about a year ago and he posted a question about overclocking on this forum and had alot of help from people... So I thought the people here were still nice :(

already testing my system.. I wonder what you think about these settings..

best try till now

thx for the link :) was really good :)

Now push for more with a max CPU voltage of 1.55 .. 2.6Ghz maybe ;)

Remember you must test for stability with several stress test apps, the ability to boot into windows does not mean that it is a stable OC.

I know but I don't get the programs I got for that :s

I got prime95 and Super PI

So I don't really know how stable it runs now :p

and for my CPU temperature.. do I need keep it lower then 40°C? cuz my Asus Probe will onley make an alarm sound on 54°C and I think that is hot :p I can't put the alarm bell any lower :(

Look between the first and second pci slots on the board. it should say A8V Deluxe. next to that it has a number, if it says 2.00 you are fine, if it says 1.xx PM me.

Flash to bios 1014 before you start.

Step 1: BEFORE YOU START OVERCLOCKING. Make sure your computer is stable. run memtest and prime95 stability tests for a few hours.
Step 2: go to advanced>frequency settings>set to manual
Step 3: go to advanced>frequency settings>change voltages and multipliers to manual
Step 4: go to advanced>frequency settings>agp/pci frequency---set to 66.66/33.33
Step 5: go to advanced>frequency settings>set cpu multipier to 6
Step 6: go to advanced>cpu configuration>HT frequency---set to 200
Step 7: go to advanced>cpu config>memory config>2t command---set to disabled
Step 8: go back to go to advanced>frequency settings>increase CPU FSB frequency by 5mhz and reboot. keep doing this, until the computer doesnt post. then, hold the power button, until it shuts off. turn it back on, and enter the bios. remember to write down this frequency.

Step 9: go to advanced>frequency settings---set cpu voltage to 1.55v
Step 10: go to advanced>frequency settings---set cpu multi to 9
Step 11: repeat step 8, multiply this max fsb by 9, to get your max cpu frequency, write this down.
Step 12: return settings back to how they were before

Since you have value ram, just set the vdimm (go to advanced>frequency settings) to 2.7v and leave the memory settings on auto, except leave 2t disabled from step 7. we wont worry about max mem frequency.

Now, take those two numbers you found, and multiply them by 0.95. This will get you close to your max frequencies. Now, fill your info into here Set the Ram box to 220, and the HT box to 1000.

This will give you options on your overclock.

Plug these settings into your bios. remember to have the vcore at 1.55v. also, you will want to increase the FSB gradually, by 10mhz at the most. go to the HT frequency, section. the 1000 means 5x, 800 means 4x and 600 means 3x and 400 means 2x. these are multipliers for your HT bus. multiply them by your fsb, and it should not go above 1000.

Once you do this, test with prim95 small FFT test, and with memtest.

Here are some links to help you:

This thread will help you with some bios settings, and other info.
This thread is a massive thread on the A8V Deluxe, post your questions there.
You can post questions in this forum

Also, you should use Motherboard Monitor 5 instead of Asus Probe. Its a bit hard to set up, but its worth it. Follow the guide in the help file. 54C is a good warning temp. You shouldnt let it go any higher.

PM me if you have questions.
