You can thank Intel for locking down nearly all ocing except for the expensive k chips.

If you want to OC on a budget chip you either have to go with first gen core i series or Athlon/Phenom II.

You are mistaken, gentlemen. I successfully overclocked my i3 2120 processor with MSI Control Center. (on an MSI motherboard). This B950 is on a Fujitsu notebook, so I'm reluctant to try MSI Control Center.

The only truly unlocked chips are the K chips. Core i's series are partially locked. They allow you to go up by 4 speed bins. (400mhz max apparently).

The Pentium and Celeron's don't even allow higher bin selection, do they?

I think that is only true on the ones that actually have turbo modes (ie, non-k i5 and i7).

OP, how much did you get out of that i3?

As much as I wanted. I clocked it from 850 (I think) to about 1200 or even higher, but it became unstable at 1300mhz+. Technically It's possible to clock i3 to 2000mhz I think. So... i3 2120 is not "K"... neither is B950... so if i3 2120 IGP can be overclocked, I guess so can B950. But how?
