Hello there, Im new this forum. First I just want to say that Im really excited to be a member here. I dont really know much about OC but I really want to :) my friend and I built this computer for mainly gaming, but obviously I want my comp to be fast and stable at the same time. Its up and running now but I feel like i'm not getting the best out of my processor and ram(its alot faster than old comp, cant complain).

My set up is, Intel E6750 duo core @ 2.67
Gigabyte ga-p35-ds3l. rev 2.0.
Evga 512mb 8600gts pci vid card
2 1gig ddr2 Kingston hyperX 240pin 1066.

I've tried to do research online on how to overclock my cpu and memory but cant find anything as far as how to it in the bios. I tried messing around with it but it randomly restarts. I understand when that happens, it probably means my specs are too high or their just not right. Like I said before, I dont know much. I dont know whats good for memory timing and what I should have my cpu host at etc... In fact, I dont know why it wont let me have access to the memory frequenzy to change my timing. Its really frustrating when you dont know much and you dont wanna do anything to harm your computer. If anyone has a similiar set up or knows about about bios stuff. PLEASE HELP. I would really appreciate that alot. Thank you very much for your time.

Also, messing around without having at least some idea what you're doing is a bad idea. Generally speaking, overclocking is safe, and very unlikely to damage your hardware. However, if you go changing settings willy-nilly, you're liable to end up with permanent damage to components.

As Idontcare said, there's a comprehensive beginner's guide stickied at the top of the forum. Read that, digest it, read it again, take some notes, and you have everything you need to start tinkering with your Core2 chip.

Don't forget, you have to hit CONTROL+F1 at the main bios menu screen, in order to enable the hidden dram timing settings.

I've done my first oc reading the sticky post too.
It seems little confusing at first but you will catch on.
And everyone here is very good at answering your questions or finding out whats wrong.
So if you get stuck on some part don't hesitate to ask around =)
Good luck OCing

Thank you very much for your help. I will read that thread and go from there. I tried using CTRL+f1 and nothing happens. What does that mean?

At the main BIOS menu, press Ctrl+F1. It won't look like anything happened. Then go into the Intelligent Tweaker menu and there will be options there that weren't present before for setting the RAM timings. Honestly though, I wouldn't worry about those until you get your CPU overclock set, except that you should set the main timings to 5-5-5-15. There're more details on that in the sticky.
