How to Overclock AMD 3500+?

I have a AMD 3500+ Winchester that I've been wanting to learn how to overclock for quite some time now, but I am still using the stock fan. Can anyone point me towards a guide that would show me step by step what I need to do? This would be my first time overclocking. I am looking at this fan to overclock - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835186134

Is this a good choice? Can someone give some recommendations? Thanks in advance.

While that's a decent enough heatsink, it doesn't fit on any AMD cpu ever made. This is what you're looking for: Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro. And here's a very good guide to overclocking Athlon 64's: link.

edit: And that Winchester isn't going to go anywhere on stock voltage. It will probably require upwards of 1.7v, to hit 2.6 Ghz.

You should probably see what you can do with your stock fan. My old Sempron went from 1.6 Ghz to 2.4 Ghz on the stock cooler. Easiest way to overclock is to lower your memory divider so your memory runs at a slower speed, and then raise your FSB. Your currently at 2.2 Ghz, with an 11x multiplier. Set your memory speed to 166 Mhz (assuming you have PC3200) and then raise your FSB to 220 Mhz. That will get you to 2.4 Ghz. Then you can try a 230 Mhz FSB to get 2.5 Ghz. Hopefully you have a motherboard that locks the PCI/PCIE and/or AGP bus speed. If your lucky, you can overlock without lowering the memory speed, but in my overclocks I've always had to lower it before taking the FSB past 220 Mhz. You should be pretty happy if you can hit 2.5 Ghz.
