how to overclock a barton 2500

ok now i have a nforce2 board and a barton 2500, what would be the best settings for a overclock....right now i have stock fans and stuff....i am a newbie at this stuff, so if you would please explain? thanx

multiplier, fsb, and voltage. do you have ddr 3200? if you do then try 11*200 and increase your voltage till its stable. if not then try 12.5*166 and up your multiplier and voltage till its stable. (don't go about 1.85V). u might need better cooling though.

If you have PC3200 RAM you should be able to set your FSB to 200 with no problem. Set your Multiplier at 9 though so you can increase it gradually until you find instabilities.

I am about to get a Barton 2500+ and am interested to overclock a little, I read up on overclocking over a year ago, do they still need to be unlocked, links to a good resource for doing so? pencil trick?

hey jeff i have pc2700 333 ram, wut exactly should i do to oc?

Personally, I'd try it at 12.5x166... if it's stable... then I'd try 9x221 and use a 75% ram divider... if that's stable, increase the multiplier little by little until you've found the max overclock.

*EDIT* then start saving for PC3200 RAM =)
**EDIT** for the record, I ran my XP2500 at 10x221 with PC2700 RAM with a 75% divider for a few months before I could get PC3200 RAM... it ran very good too... no stability problems and it was by no means slow
