Yep, count me confused even AFTER I saw that the box was unchecked by default, for me.

I heard that it may carry forward a prior opt-out from some other setting, which is at least a little 'not evil'.

Does this apply to Google Plus only? If so, I already turned that crap off.

Would have helped if they had explained it better though. When I go to opt out of something, I've been conditioned to see a check box with text next to it that says "I choose NOT to participate..." or similar.

Agree that they at least appeared to be honoring previous agreement, but it would have been so simple to have some language that said "If the box is unchecked, you have already opted out and your information won't be shared..."

Never use my Google+, only posts I have are from my blog... Hope they don't use that stuff.
