I need to open up the fan on my MSI Radeon HD4850 graphics card. It spins very slowly and I suspect it has some grime in the spinning mechanism. But I can't figure out how to open it. I tried online tutorials, but my fan is different from all of them. Here is what it looks like:

How do I open this fan? Thanks.

Don't open it any further. As you suspect, the problem is probably accumulated airborne dust, grease, etc. IF it can be fixed, the easiest way to clean it is to spray WD-40 into the opening between the circuit board and the fan blade assembly and manually spin it to distribute the lubricant.

There are only two possible outcomes. Either the fan will work again, or you'll have to replace an inexpensive fan that is already failing.

The biggest problem will be finding an exact replacement. I'm still trying to figure out how that one is mounted without any surrounding frame. Is that a glob of adhesive in the middle of the circuit board?
