How to open specific ports in this scenario?

I'm curious if anyone can assist with this. I'm on a corporate network but would like to open a few specific ports for this system only (for items such as messaging software, etc..). Is there a way to do this though GPEDIT.MSC or a similar means?

give us more info? Is there a firewall on the host? ACL on the router? Firewall at the perimeter? Group policy can only manage the windows xp sp2 firewall if I remember correctly
