How To Open Ports??

I play online games and am behind a router. For some reason I cannot host a game and am being told it may be because of the router. I also have a firewall (Norton Personal Firewall). When I leave the firewall on, I cannot host or join games. When I turn it off, I can join but still cannot host games. So I pretty much leave it off so I can get my game on. What I really want to happen though is to be able to host games too. On EA Sports website, they give a few ports that have to be open in order to use their online service. Any ideas out there on how to actually "open" these ports using the firewall, and router I have (Linksys Router/Access Point/Hub)? Thanks!

Ok, found where the port filters are in the router. Now a few other questions. To "open" them, how do I know they are Open and not blocked? The options when I go to modify the ports are "Disable" "TCP" UDP" "Both". What do all these mean? Thanks!

You want to select disable to unfilter the ports.

Disable = No filter
UDP = only UDP filtered
TCP = only TCP filtered
Both = UDP and TCP filtered

Ah...so if I want to allow UDP on a given port, I will filter TCP, right? Another question...EA requires like 8 different ports to be open, but I only have 5 spaes to modif port settings in the router setup. What do I do? Also, EA gives ranges of ports that need to be open like 2000-21000. How do I open all these? Thanks!
