How to open a temp file

I got an excel file through e-mail. I open it, its in the temp folder. I proceed to edit it as needed. I got to save, tells me I need to change the name. So I do. and then save it in the temp folder. no big deal I thought, I know the path to it. I was wrong. I saved it again after I finished with it, closed it. I tried to open it today, and apparently I can't open things from the temp folder? I don't even know what the problem is?

Please help me

I did a quick search, but found nothing

and yes, I do suck with computers

If the file's still there, cut & paste it to somewhere permanent.
